This listing is for a one of a kind Mia skirt, made to your measurements and crafted from a unique vintage textile. This stunning large scale print reminds me of my grandma, Candida, which is why I've named this textile the Abuelita floral.  The neutral base paired with the rich pink, yellow and lavender florals transports me back to my childhood visits to her cozy home that was filled with soft Persian rugs, well worn books, and beautiful floral throw pillows.

We don't cut any corners on our Mia skirts, as we want these to be long lasting, heirloom quality pieces.  We use a full circle skirt pattern for the best drape and maximum twirl-ability. 100% cotton material allows for maximum breathability and comfort.  All interior edges are finished and the skirt is fully lined with a lightweight cotton voile.  We use a fitted waistband with a zipper and button closure, instead of elastic, because elastic does degrade and breakdown with wear and time.

***Please leave your waist measurement and skirt length in the order notes. This skirt does not have a stretch waistband.  I will automatically add 1/2" to your waistband measurement for ease.  Skirt is meant to be a midi length skirt, which means the hem should hit you around the middle of your calf.***

Proportions of skirt and ruffle fullness may differ from illustration based on your size and desired length.

Due to the vintage nature of the materials, there may be some small flaws or stains.  I do my best to work around or repair any major flaws.

Measurments Needed

In order for us to make your Mia skirt, you need to provide for us two measurements: your waist measurement and the skirt length measurement.

Please be sure to accurately measure yourself. If you have any questions on how to do this, send me an email at sara@luckyfranklin.com. I am happy to help walk you through it.

Your waist measurement should be taken from where you want the skirt waistband to sit on your body. The style is meant to be worn higher on your body, so we suggest you measure your waist slightly above your belly button or at your narrowest point.

***I will add a 1/2 inch of ease to all waist measurements*** What does that mean? It means that if you select your waist measurement to be 35", the finished waist measurment on your garment will be 35.5". The extra half inch is to allow greater ease of movement, which is why in pattern making language it is called ease.

The skirt length measurement is how long your would like the skirt to be and should be taken from where you took your waist measurement to the spot where you'd like the hem to reach on your leg. The Mia skirt is designed to be a midi skirt, which means the hem should reach somewhere around your mid calf. You can choose a measurement that is anywhere between the bottom of your knee down to the top of your ankle.

***Please allow an allowance of plus or minus a 1/2" on your skirt length*** What does this mean? This means that if you select a 28" length, your skirt could be as short as 27.5" in length or 28.5" in length.

Care Instructions

All Mia skirts are meant to be long lasting, heirloom quality pieces. To ensure their longevitiy it is important to care for them properly. Some skirts are made from vintage materials and thus need more delicate care.

When possible, we recommend steam cleaning your Mia skirt.

The steam is good for eliminating odors as well as eliminating wrinkles and creases from wear.

For a deeper clean, you can machine wash with COLD water and DELICATE cycle. AIR DRY only.

If you wash on semi-warm, warm or hot, your skirt could experience color bleeding and shrinkage.

If you dry your Mia skirt in a dryer we cannot guarantee that it will not shrink, as most of the materials we use are 100% cotton. All vintage materials were pre-washed.

To remove wrinkles after washing, we recommend steaming. You can also press your skirt on a medium heat setting.

Shipping & Processing

The Mia Skirt is made to order, so please allow 3 to 4 weeks for production and shipping.

If there are any delays or issues, we will reach out to you directly via the email provided at checkout.

All Mia skirts will ship for free via USPS Priority Mail.

Returns & Refunds

All sales are final and non-refundable on Mia skirts as they are custom made to your measurements. It is very important to make sure that you have provided accurate measurements.

Sustainability & Transparency

To cut down on wasted inventory, the Mia skirts are created using a made to order model. That means each skirt is only made when you order it and it is tailor made to your specific measurements.

Any and all fabric scraps left over from your skirt are saved so that they can be turned into other unique items.

For many of our one-of-a-kind Mia skirts, I have sourced unique vintage fabrics from online. While it is great to be able to save vintage textiles from ending up as trash, having to source fabric from many different sellers does have a negative impact on the environment, from the carbon footprint of shipping each package, to the amount of waste generated by the packaging. When possible I try to buy multiple materials from once seller and to recycle pacakging, but that is not always possible.
